Artist Alley F.A.Q.

Question:How big are the tables this year?
Answer:The same as last year's, standard 6 foot lengths.

Question:What happend to Half tables?
Answer:Only Full tables are sold. If you want to split your table, that is up to you. The table will be registered under one main artist/club/studio though. The rules will regulate your table as a whole and not by individual artists residing in the same space.

Question:How many AA/CA badges do I get?
Answer:Each Table comes with two AA/CA Badges.

Question:How many chairs does each table have?
Answer:2

Question:What do these badges do for me?
Answer:The only two things the AA/CA badge will do for you is to ensure an early entry to AA/CA area for setup each day and permit only those wearing said badge to be behind the tables at any given time. (yes, we do check and have been known to remove squatters and non-artists from behind tables)

Question:Wait, this doesn't cover my entry fee??
Answer:You -WILL- need to buy a weekend pass. AA/CA reservation only cover the cost of the table setting, art badges and a valid place to sell artist wares.

Question:Do I need to get a Vendors Permit to sell in AA/CA?
Answer:Temporary vendor permits are given out at AA/CA for Artists to fill out for that weekend.

Question:I only want/got confirmed for an AA table, can I sell Fiber Arts?
Answer:Seeing as we now have a dedicated area (via CA) for fiber arts, we request that an artist wishing to sell custom fiber arts in AA have a limit of what they sell at the table. As a rule of thumb, Fiber art on AA tables should not take up more than 25% of your table/earnings.

Question:Could you give me examples of what is kosher in AA?
Answer:Artists Alley is for Artist to display, create, and commission their own traditional artwork in one form or another. An example of items accepted are items that depict your artwork on t-shirts, music, CD, DVD, calendars, drawings, paintings, prints, comics, doujinshi, .zines, sketches, cel art, pins, buttons, posters, etc...

Question:Could you give me examples of what is kosher in CA?
Answer:Cosplay Avenue is for Artists to display, create and commission their own Fiber Arts creations via models, ears/tails, jewelry, costumes, custom plushies, props, bags, gothic lolita, etc..

Question:Why can't we sell stickers (or anything with an adhesive backing)?
Answer:As stated in AA/CA Rules: The Hampton Roads Convention Center has disallowed the sale of stickers as they are considered an act of potential vandalism on their grounds. Do NOT bring them.

Question:Got my table approved, but I need to add items to my selling list!
Answer:As stated on the AA/CA submission form: Please be as specific as possible on your selling list. Items not listed on the final form that we print out at the con will be ask to be removed from your table. Updates to your selling list can be noted via email to AA up to 3 weeks prior to convention date.

Question:Will AA/CA be locked during the night?
Answer:YES. Hall B (where AA and CA are located) will be locked after Midnight and will be open the following day according to the AA/CA hours listed on the website. Artist may get in up to an hour earlier to set back up/ reorganize your table prior to reopening the Hall to everyone else. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR AA/CA BADGE WITH YOU TO GAIN EARLY ENTRY. Common sense tells you to take valuables when you leave at night as NekoCon and it's staff cannot be held responsible for loss.

Question:Oh no! I just found out I cannot attend! What about a refund?
Answer:You may request a refund up to 2 weeks prior to the convention dates. Refunds are sent out shortly AFTER the con has ended. No refunds on electricity.
