What Is NekoCon NekoCon is Virginia’s longest-running anime convention, founded in 1998. It celebrates anime, manga, gaming, pop culture, and everything in between, providing fans a chance to connect and immerse themselves in their favorite fandoms.
When Is NekoCon NekoCon is traditionally held on the first full weekend in November. For 2025, NekoCon will take place on October 31st - November 2nd. Check our website or social media for specific event timings and any schedule changes.
Where Is NekoCon Held? NekoCon takes place at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia. The venue is centrally located and easily accessible for attendees from across the region.
What Is The Theme For NekoCon This Year? Each year, NekoCon features a unique theme that sets the tone for the event. For 2025, the theme is Cy-Purr-Punk. Stay tuned for related events, decorations, and special guest appearances inspired by this year’s theme.
How big is NekoCon? NekoCon is considered a medium-large convention. In 2024, we saw an attendance of approximately 7,000 attendees. The event continues to grow each year with more guests, panels, and attractions.

NekoCon is primarily an anime convention, but we also feature a variety of other genres including: -Sci-Fi -Horror -Pop Culture -Gaming (Tabletop and Video Games) -Cosplay -J-Fashion Whether you’re into mecha, magical girls, or horror-themed anime, NekoCon has something for every fan!
When Does Pre-Registration Open? Pre-registration for NekoCon opens in February each year. This is the best way to save on admission fees and secure your spot at the convention. Follow us on social media for announcements on pricing and registration deadlines.

What Type Of Events Does NekoCon Have? When do Vendor Applications Open? Vendor applications for Artist Alley and Exhibitors typically open on April 1st. Be sure to check our social media and website for updates, as spaces tend to fill up quickly.
When Do Panel Applications Open? Panel applications for NekoCon open on March 1st. If you’re interested in hosting a panel or workshop, be sure to apply early. Panel topics range from anime discussions and cosplay tutorials to gaming and fan art presentations
When Do Masquerade Applications Open? The Masquerade (NekoCon’s premier cosplay event) applications typically open on August 1st. Whether you’re a first-time cosplayer or an experienced costume designer, we encourage you to showcase your talent in this popular event.
When Do Club Row Applications Open? Club Row applications open on June 1st. This area showcases fan clubs, organizations, and community groups, where you can learn about different fandoms and join a passionate community.
